Will Elon Musk ‘extend the light of Twitter’s conscience’ before or after losing his boner?

One of the most heinous things about Adam and Rebekah Neumann – at least as depicted on Apple TV+ We crashed — is their unwavering belief that a shared office space with a Keurig and a ping pong table could “elevate the consciousness of the world.” It’s bullshit Woo-woo billionaire, an effort to rationalize the obscene amount of money they earn by suggesting that their product or service is good for humanity.

Jack Dorsey, the billionaire former CEO and co-founder of Twitter, has plenty of Adam Neumann energy even to suggest that Twitter is a “public good” when the service has probably created more global toxicity than any other creation. . Of course, Dorsey supports Elon Musk’s purchase of Twitter because he thinks it’s better to cede control of the platform to a terribly out of touch billionaire than allow it to be owned by Wall Street. I’m no fan of Wall Street – I agree with Elizabeth Warren in believing that major social networks should be regulated by government bureaucrats – but at least the ability of public pressure to affect shareholder value has compelled Twitter to become slightly less toxic in recent years.

I expect Elon Musk to reverse this incremental progress. Jack Dorsey disagrees, as he explained in a Twitter thread last night.

I love Twitter. Twitter is the closest we have to a global consciousness.

In principle, I don’t think anyone should own or run Twitter. It wants to be a public good at the protocol level, not a business. Solving the problem of being a business though, Elon is the singular solution I trust. I trust its mission to expand the light of consciousness.

I’m so glad Twitter will continue to serve the public conversation. Around the world, and in the stars!

Do you trust Elon Musk to “extend the light of consciousness…around the world and into the stars”? Come on man: 70% of Twitter is just people bullying celebrities and politicians and the rest is racist uncles yelling at bots. Now it’s going to be under the singular control of this guy:

I don’t see much light in tweets like that. But, you know: billionaires have to support other billionaires. The world is not going to save itself.

“Elon is the one solution I trust”

Jack Dorsey.

Logic. Billionaires convince themselves that they are saving humanity.

That’s why this bullshit of long-termism and effective altruism is a religion in this valley to convince themselves that they’re saving the world.
