V. Kikilias: Our tourism strategy supports traditional and dynamic sectors of society
“The messages for the new year leave us room for optimism for tourism, always of course in the fluid environment caused by the triggering of the Omicron mutation”, notes the Minister of Tourism Vassilis Kikilias, in an interview with ethnos .gr.
Mr Kikilias referred to the next steps to support the “locomotive of the Greek economy”, noting that “we want more, better tourism, all over the country and not just in traditionally popular destinations”.
He underlines that the new strategy for tourism is created with the traditional and dynamic segments of the market and of society, “from hoteliers and tourism professionals to catering entrepreneurs, to the commercial world of the country and of course to their employees”. “All those who improve the tourism product and at the same time benefit indirectly or directly.” These are the people who must be supported so that together we can send a strong message of further development of the tourism product, which we always want to return to the average Greek family, âsays Mr. Kikilias.
The Minister of Tourism also evokes a series of current initiatives, such as the attraction of “digital nomads“, a global trend for which he recalls that with the method and cooperation of all, Greece can become a “Land of nomads “, while a special also refers to the strengthening of” green tourism “.
âGreece has all the guarantees and can play a leading role in ‘green’ tourism. It is a conscious decision taken by the government with the “standard bearer” of Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis. âSo if for Greece the tourism which provides 25% of the GDP is the engine of the economy, sustainable tourism is the necessary rails to keep moving forward,â said Mr. Kikilias.
