Sheriff’s office: man injured after home invasion, shooting; suspects on the loose

THOMASBORO, Ill. (WCIA) – A man was injured after a home invasion and shooting occurred early Thursday morning.
At approximately 1:15 a.m., deputies from the Champaign County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to a location on Ackerman Drive in response to a report of a home invasion that had just occurred.
According to deputies, a person called 911 to report that three unknown suspects broke into a house, displayed firearms and fired several shots while inside. A 22-year-old resident was hit by the gunfire.
The suspects left the residence on foot and left before the responding deputies arrived.
The three suspects were all described as wearing masks and hoodies.
The victim was taken to a local hospital for non-life-threatening injuries, treated and released.
This is an ongoing investigation.
