Prince Harry and Meghan Markle pay for their own security when returning to the UK
The Duke of Sussex and his Duchess are reportedly funding their security privately as they return to their native country to attend a charity event together.
AceShowbiz – The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are said to be paying for their security out of their own pocket while returning to Britain. Prince Harry37, and his wife Duchess Meghan, 41, will not charge the taxpayer for guards while traveling to Manchester on Monday (05.09.22), police have confirmed.
Allegedly landing on British soil this weekend after taking a commercial flight, the couple did not appear to have their children with them on their first return to the UK since the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee in June to celebrate 70 years of the monarch on the throne.
It comes as tensions remain over Prince Harry’s legal battle with the Home Office over his refusal to provide police protection to the Sussexes while in the UK. A Greater Manchester Police spokesperson confirmed to MailOnline that the couple’s safety was ‘secured privately’ for their attendance at a One Young World event on Monday.
One Young World is an organization that promotes young leaders and brings together communities around the world, supporting young activists and representatives with impactful projects. Meghan has supported the organization, which has seen speakers such as Emma Watson attend, for several years. She is expected to deliver the keynote address for the four-day conference.
Prince Harry has been embroiled in a long legal battle with the UK Home Office after he previously refused to provide police protection for the couple to return to the country after pulling out of his royal duties and having moved to California.
The Duke of Sussex has been told he will no longer have the same level of personal protection in the UK when visiting from the US. His representatives have previously explained how he wanted to bring his wife Meghan and their children Archie, three, and Lilibet, one, on a visit from the US, but believe they are ‘unable to return to his home’ as it is too dangerous. .
