Police ‘inundated’ with tips after local hockey doctor charged with sexual assault
(WXYZ) – Oakland County District Attorney Karen McDonald says the Farmington Hills Police Department was “inundated” with tips after their initial arrest of a local hockey doctor, who is now facing a number of sexual assault charges involving young victims.
“In the days and weeks following the first arrest … the Farmington Hills Police Department received 33 additional reports from the public reporting similar, suspicious or potentially criminal acts,” the chief of the police said. Last Friday, Dr. Zvi Levran, 66, was charged with 10 more counts of criminal sexual conduct in four new criminal complaints in Farmington Hills District Court.
The initial charges against Dr Zvi Levran stem from a criminal complaint filed by a 19-year-old man following a medical examination at a doctor’s office in Farmington Hills on October 18.
At arraignment, a Farmington Hills detective said: “In addition to the previous seven counts, these four new cases bring a total of 17 counts where the defendant breached his trust as a doctor. and assistant hockey coach for sexually assaulting young players in various high school and junior hockey leagues in the metro area.
Levran has spent the past two decades working with young athletes in metro Detroit and other states.
Farmington Hills police say they commend the current victims for their courage in coming forward and fear there are more.

Dr. Levran’s next hearing will be a probable cause conference on Dec. 7 at 9:30 a.m., the same date and time as his original sexual assault case of similar charges.
