Johnson County has many plans for Two Horse Farm
IOWA CITY, Iowa (AP) — Erin Melloy sold 83 acres of her family’s land to Johnson County this year hoping her conservation team can be good stewards of the special plot.
Johnson County purchased Two Horse Farm from Melloy and her husband Brian this year and is already preparing the woods, farm and meadows for public use. County plans are as diverse as the land itself: conservation efforts, an Airbnb, hiking trails, offices for county staff, and wild bird rehabilitation. Seven additional acres were offered to the Iowa Tribe of Kansas and Nebraska as part of this agreement.
