Fairmount Extended Trinity House for Sale
The furniture, kitchen, woodwork and wallpaper on the main floor of this spacious double trinity all say “traditional”. But its amenities and features all scream “modern.”
You may recall a few Trinity Tuesdays ago we featured a trinity on North Judson Street in Fairmount which was built at a 45 degree angle to the street as it makes a 45 degree turn at right at the point where the house is.
The owners of his neighbor to the south put their house on the market at the end of the week this article was published, and one of them wrote to me asking if I would give the same treatment to their home.
Glad to be of service, Amber Mallon.
Unlike this house, this one has a standard rectangular footprint and extends further on its slightly larger lot.
The agent marketing this house informs me that it is an extended trinity, but to be honest it seems to me that all traces of the trinity have been removed from it at least one renovation ago, if not more. In fact, I strongly suspect the house had this imprint from the start, especially after seeing the master bedroom.
But if so, that’s a good thing, if what you want is a spacious, attractive home with room for relaxation, entertainment, work and privacy.
Because this Fairmount Extended Trinity house for sale has all these attributes.
The open ground floor contains the relaxation and entertainment areas. At the front, a comfortable living room contains a wood-burning fireplace.
And next to it and the stairs, a dining room with a modern traditional chandelier lets you dine and entertain in style.
Behind it all is a kitchen equipped to cook up a feast. It features a Viking gas range and a full suite of stainless steel appliances, including a built-in microwave. Traditional farmhouse cabinets give the room a traditional look, but again, everything in this kitchen is up to date.
Its location next to a brick paved back patio allows you to relax, entertain and dine indoors and out. (There is also room for a grill on the terrace.)
Mallon particularly likes to take advantage of this floor. “I think our favorite feature of our home is the fireplace in the living room,” she wrote in an email. “We like to sit out front, night after night, throw another log on the fire, share stories of our day – usually over cocktails. Another contender is my Viking range. How I love this stove!
The second floor contains two bedrooms and a bathroom. Like the first floor, it has an original hardwood floor that has been refinished to a high gloss.
The rear bedroom is completely open to the hallway and the stairs. For this reason, it makes an ideal home office.
Mallon didn’t mention it in her homage to this house, but I bet she and her husband enjoy throwing logs on the working fireplace in the master bedroom as much as the one in the living room. The full-height brick fireplace and high vaulted ceiling add an element of style and drama to this room that many primary trinity rooms lack.
The master bedroom also includes the most modern feature of this house: its bathroom.
This is sumptuously fitted with a jetted tub and a shower enclosure containing two handheld showerheads with body jets.
Not only is this house very well equipped, but it is also very well located. “Our proximity to Whole Foods allows me to walk there several times a week for the best the region has to offer,” writes Mallon. And that’s not all you can walk from here. It’s a stone’s throw from the Philadelphia Museum of Art and the Eakins Oval, and nearby neighborhood shopping at Whole Foods on Pennsylvania Avenue and Brandywine Street.
The Fairmount Avenue row of restaurants, Waterworks, and the Schuylkill River Trail are also within walking distance. All of this means you can do your daily exercise without having to hit the gym, unless you need to build muscle.
With all that this Fairmount Extended Trinity home for sale has to offer, I’m sure the Mallons can’t wait to leave. But because they are leaving, you now have the chance to own a real gem of a home in a great location.
