88% of Russians say they like working from home – opinion poll – Business & Economy
MOSCOW, May 6 / TASS /. About 88% of Russians are happy to work from home, as an opinion poll by Raiffeisen Bank shows.
The poll covered 1,000 people in major Russian cities. More than half of respondents (54%) have worked full time from home in the past year. Twenty-two percent more worked from home but came to the office occasionally for six months. The remainder, 24%, worked remotely for several months or less during the lockdown.
Among the main advantages of the remote work format are the avoidance of wasting time to and from work (78%) and a visible reduction in expenses (49%). Half of the respondents said they liked working from home because it allowed them to spend more time with family. Thirty-six percent more said such a format was more convenient for combining work and hobby. A third (33%) of those surveyed reported working more efficiently from home due to a lack of distractions, such as noise and slow-motion conversations. The same number of respondents (33%) said they liked working remotely because of the possibility of working from another city or even another country.
However, twelve percent of Russians do not like the idea of ââworking from home. Half of them said they failed to adapt to such a format and the other half said they were disappointed.
Over 50% of respondents complained about not getting enough physical activity when working in remote mode. Forty-two percent said they don’t have enough real communication. Some said they were unable to observe a work-life balance. For example, 35% said they were permanently overworked, with work-related communication continuing even on weekends. Thirty percent said the council was not focusing on work because of domestic and family issues.
Raiffeisen transferred more than 5,500 employees in nearly 9,000 of its ten offices in Moscow, Omsk, Yaroslavl and Kolomna to a hybrid working mode in 2020. A Future of Work project was launched in September 2020 to develop new formats combining offline and online practices to provide maximum flexibility and convenience to its employees.
